William "Ed" Poshard

William "Ed" Poshard, 90, of Carmi, passed away on Thursday, April 11, 2024, at the Linda E. White Hospice House in Evansville, Indiana. He was born on November 19, 1933, in Herald, Illinois, the son of Louis Ezra and Cleatus Rose (O'Neal) Poshard. Ed married Phyllis Jean Fishback on July 21, 1959, and she survives. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. Ed worked as an insurance agent for 42 years at State Farm Insurance in Carmi. He attended Ditney Ridge Baptist Church. Ed enjoyed camping, riding his bicycle and traveling. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with his kids and grandkids.

In addition to his wife, Phyllis Poshard of Carmi, IL, Ed is survived by his children, William E. "Butch" (Gina) Poshard, Jr. of Larkspur, CO. and Angela Lynn Eckert of Carbondale, IL; grandchildren, Lucas Damian, Ocean, Rain, and Summer Eckert, and Flynn Poshard; three great-grandchildren, Grayson, Harmony and Heavenly; siblings, Glenn (Jo) Poshard of Murphysboro, IL. and Madeline (John) Givens of New Haven, IL. He is preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Wilma "Rosie" Parker and Jolene Poshard.

Private family funeral services were held for Ed Poshard at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, with burial at Union Ridge Cemetery in New Haven, Illinois. Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi were in charge of arrangements.
