Warren “Willie” Wilkerson Glad, 56, of Norris City, passed away Wednesday, July 15, 2026, in Marion, IL. He was born October 1, 1969, in Eldorado, IL, to Euna Stokes and raised by Ronald Stokes. Willie graduated from Norris City Omaha Enfield High School in 1987 and earned his bachelor’s degree from Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, OK, where he was a member of Kappa Delta Pi and Alpha Chi. On December 23, 1989, he married Bonnie Faye Bass, and they shared more than 36 years of marriage. Willie was a member of Carmi’s VFW and Legion. He enjoyed fishing, running, and watching sports, especially the N.Y. Mets, Chicago Bulls, Illini basketball, University of Florida football, Northeastern State University Redmen, Miami Dolphins, and Chicago Blackhawks.
Willie was a Gulf War Era and Peacetime veteran. He served in the Marine Corps from October 6, 1987, to October 9, 1992, attaining the rank of Corporal, and later served in the Army from December 1, 1993, to September 1, 2000, attaining the rank of Staff Sergeant.
Willie is survived by his wife, Bonnie Glad of Norris City; parents, Ron and Euna Stokes of Norris City; children, Jacob (Mariah Patterson) Glad of Enfield, Zachariah (Brittany) Glad of Fort Wayne, IN, and Nathanial (Brittany) Glad of Norris City; grandchildren, Darren Patterson, Clay Glad, Maverick Glad, Alana Glad, Zahra Glad, Saylor Glad, Corbin Glad, and Sophie Glad; half-brother, John Wentzel of Rochester, IN; half-sister, Soft Fawn Glad of Arizona; stepbrother, Jeffrey Scott Stokes of Fishersville, KY; several aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was preceded in death by two siblings, Ronald Dean Stokes and Kimberly Louise Corbett.
Funeral Services for Warren “Willie” Wilkerson Glad, 56, of Norris City will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 25, 2026 at Shiloh United Methodist Church in Norris City. Burial will be held in Big Hill Cemetery with full military honors. Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 25, 2026 from 10:00 a.m. through 1:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Memorial contributions may be made in Willie’s memory to St. Jude’s or Ronald McDonald House and will be accepted at the funeral home or to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
