Stephanie Ann Dennis, 72, of Carmi, IL, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2025, in Evansville, IN. She was born on May 24, 1953, in Spokane, Washington, the daughter of Malcolm and Verna (Wehrle) Rudolph. Stephanie married Tony L. Dennis on August 10, 1978, and they shared nearly 32 years of marriage until Tony’s passing on July 17, 2010.
Stephanie and Tony were integral in the formation of Gospel Temple Church in Carmi, which later became World Harvest Christian Center and is now known as Trinity Assembly of God. Stephanie worked as a librarian at the Carmi Public Library for over 35 years before her retirement in 2023. Stephanie was a proud Board member of the Friends of the Carmi Public Library and a faithful daughter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She also cherished her membership in the Monday Night Knitting Group and her monthly book club, Novel Approach. Stephanie spent her free time reading, crocheting, and cheering on the St. Louis Cardinals. Her favorite pastime, however, was doting on and caring for the family she cherished more than anything.
Stephanie is survived by her five children: Matt (Ashley) Broom, of Lake In the Hills, IL; Kathi (Jimmy) Buchanan, of Carmi, IL; Shelda (Garrett) Wingo, of Benton, IL; Brock Dennis, of Carmi, IL; and Keegan (Glimmer) Dennis, of Eldorado, IL. She is also survived by fourteen grandchildren: Jackson, Aidan, Sydney, Trinitti, Ryker, Kyle, Kassi, Kooper, Konner, Khloe, Beckam, John Hudson, Remy, and Roxy, and six great-grandchildren. Her brother-in-law, Barry (Terri) Dennis, of Carmi, IL, also survives.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her husband, Tony L. Dennis, her daughter, Jennifer McCormick, a sister-in-law, Gloria Dennis, her mother and father-in-law, Bonnie and Benny Dennis, and her parents, Mac Rudolph and Verna Rudolph.
