Sherri (Bartley) Gwaltney

      Sherri L. (Bartley) Gwaltney, 59, of Carmi passed away on Wednesday, January 7, 2026. She was born in Eldorado, IL the daughter of Junior Ray and Lanita Jean (Osborne) Bartley. Sherri was a 1984 graduate of Carmi High School and later received her CNA in 2002. She worked in home health as a caregiver and CNA. Sherri attended Faith Tabernacle Church and loved working puzzle books and watching TV. Her greatest joy was going on outings with her family, especially her son, Michael.

     Sherri is survived by her son, Michael Gwaltney and his partner, Michelle Alvey of Carmi; sister, Marilyn Chapman and husband Joe of Chicago, IL; a niece Aeryn Chapman; and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents and several aunts and uncles.

     Graveside funeral services for Sherri L. (Bartley) Gwaltney, 59, of Carmi will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 10, 2026 at White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family to assist with offsetting funeral expenses and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is assisting the family with arrangements.
