Robert Eugene Healy, 80 of Norris City, departed for his heavenly home on October 3, 2023. He was born June 18,1943 in Harrisburg, IL to Walter Judson and Nathalie Marie (Farmer) Healy. He married Norma Jean Clark on July 9, 1982 and she survives.
Called “Gene” or “Bob” by those who knew him best, he was the owner and operator alongside his wife, Norma, of Healy’s Union 76 service station for 25 years. They also owned and operated Healy Feed, Healy’s Car Wash and Bob’s Used Cars. He was known as a hard worker who loved his family, always thinking of a new business he could open. In his later years, he worked as a rural carrier for the USPS. During his retirement, he could often be seen on his tractor or riding his side by side with his long-time best friend, his chocolate lab, Buster. He was a member of Carmi Church of Christ.
Robert is survived by his wife of 41 years, Norma; a daughter Heather Jean (Jason) Hosick, sons Danny (Kim), Robby (Melony), Bobby (DeAnna), Kevin, Wesley (Marcie), stepdaughter Angela (Harold) Green, grandchildren Nathalie, Chase, Kinsley, Whitley, Meagan (Ryan), Krista (Tim), Gavin, Gauge, Bradley, Haleigh, Jessica (Aaron), Tyler (Brook), Torie (Alex), Rachel, Brent, and Avery (Kurry); and 15 great grandchildren, with another one on the way in November. He is also survived by his sister Sue (Bob) Stokes, his cousin who was like a brother Wayne (Laverta) Healy, and sisters-in-law Marilyn Healy, Sharon (Tom) Utley, Sandy Nussel, Dorothy Weiss, and Kathy Nobles and many loving nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers Bill Farmer and Frank Healy, grandchildren Kendra Marie Healy, Garrett Ray Healy, Miles Doerr and his loyal dog of 12 years, Buster.
A celebration of Robert’s life will be held at later date. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
