Phyllis Ellinor Sanders

 Phyllis Ellinor (South) Sanders, 87, of Mt. Vernon, Illinois, and formerly of Springerton, Illinois,  passed away on Tuesday, August 16, 2022, at Brookstone Assisted Living in Fairfield, Illinois.  She was born on March 12, 1935, the daughter of Ray and Mamie (Garrett) South.  She married Bobby Lee Sanders on June 15, 1952, at Springerton Christian Church, and he preceded her in death on May 23, 2007.  Phyllis worked at Airtex in auto assembly.  She loved dancing with her husband and enjoyed giving others dancing lessons.

     Phyllis is survived by her sons, Danny (Debbie) Sanders of Mt. Vernon, IL, and Jerry Sanders of Fairfield, IL; a brother, Carroll (Dixie) South of Enfield, IL; grandchildren; Rachel (Aaron) Wagner of Mt. Vernon, IL, Jessica Sanders of Shepherdsville, KY, Carroll (Amber) Sanders of Fairfield, IL, Joel Sanders of Medford, WI, and Ryan Sanders of Flora, IL; great-grandchildren, Grace, Korben, Evan, Lennox, and Temperance; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to her husband Bobby Sanders, Phyllis is preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild, Anthony "Tony" Sanders; siblings, Doyle South, Garrett South, Dorothy York, Helen South, and Emogene Thomas.

     Funeral services for Phyllis Sanders will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield, with burial at Little Zion Cemetery in Enfield.  Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, August 20, 2022, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Enfield.
