Norma Lynn Nelson

     Norma Lynn Nelson, 85, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, June 26, 2023. at the Heritage Center in Evansville. She was born on September 10, 1937, in Carmi, Illinois. Norma worked as an aide at Brownsville School for 20 years and helped with the Special Olympics throughout the years. She enjoyed reading and gardening, but enjoyed spending time with family most of all.

     Norma is survived by her children, Lela (David) DeLong of Carmi, IL, Jason (Bonnie) Nelson of Monroe City, IN, Rob (Tracey) Nelson of Evansville, IN, and Kim Butler of Vincennes, IN; grandchildren, Lindsey (Daniel) Russell of Carbondale, IL, Cheyenne (Jordan) Hakes of Monroe City, IN, Kate (Zach) Carter of Vincennes, IN, Tanna Nelson of Monroe City, IN, Rachel, Roxanne and Bryan Grimm of Vincennes, IN, Bobby Neslon of Evansville, IN, Brandon (Amy) Butler of Monrovia, IN, Kendra (Alex) Williams of New Smyrna, FL, Jason (Brandi) Williams of Carmi, IL, Trevor and J.D. Finn of Carmi, IL; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alice (Cravens) and J.T. Lamont; a daughter, Cheryl L. Nelson; and a sister, Peggy Burton.

      Graveside funeral services and burial for Norma Nelson will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Big Prairie Cemetery in Carmi. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, at Big Prairie Cemetery. Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi is assisting the family with arrangements.
