Nellie Lucille Haywood

     Nellie Lucille Haywood, 98, of Carmi, passed away on Monday, September 4, 2023, at Silver Foxes Senior Living and Rehab in McLeansboro, Illinois. She was born on April 7, 1925, in Mt. Carmel, Illinois, the daughter of William and Mamie (Carr) Bolden. Nellie married Bill Haywood on February 25, 1944. She worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse. She owned and operated H&H Aquarium in Carmi for a time. Nellie was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carmi. She loved spending time with family and friends.

     Nellie is survived by her children, Missy Bishop, widow of Clifton Bishop, of Elmhurst, IL, Rita Mercer of Carmi, IL, Willie Logsdon, widow of Larry Logsdon, of Riverton, IL, and twin sister, Wanda Foster of Springfield, IL, and Billie John (Steve) Hilakos of Lakeland, FL; grandchildren, Rori Ann, Victor, Chris John, Casey, Dan, Doug, Kristina, Bill, Alexia, Andrea, Nicholas, and Peter; great-grandchilren and great-great-grandchilren. She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and siblings, John Bolden, Gertrude Siebert, Dallas Bolden, Benny Lee Bolden, Hattie Singer, Edward Bolden, Clyde and Claude Bolden, Gene Bolden and Charles Bolden.

     A private memorial service and inurnment will held for Nellie Haywood at White County Memorial Garden in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Nellie's memory to the Baptist Childrens Home in Carmi, and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi who is in charge of arrangements.
