Mary Griffith

Mary E. Griffith, 93, of Norris City passed away at 11:55 p.m., Friday, August 21, 2020 at SIH Herrin Hospital in Herrin, IL.  She was born on June 12, 1927 in Norris City, IL the daughter of James David and Annie (Acord) Griffith.  Mary had worked as a Teller and later Assistant Vice President of Norris City State Bank and Banterra Bank.  She was a member of Norris City United Cumberland Presbyterian Church and enjoyed working in her garden and playing Bridge.

Mary is survived by nephews and nieces, Richard Griffith of Braidwood, IL, Joe (Cheryl) Griffith of Herrin, Dennis (Amber) Griffith of Norris City, Susie (John) Hawkins of Harrisburg, Anna Mae Henson of Broken Arrow, OK, Jan Griffith and Brenda Griffith both of Herrin; numerous great nieces and nephews and a sister-in-law, Ella Mae Griffith.  She was preceded in death by her parents and five brothers, Ed, Jackson Daley, William Baley, Rev. Frank and George Griffith; and nephews, James and Gerald Griffith and Bob Henson.

Graveside funeral services and burial for Mary E. Griffith, 93, of Norris City will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 25, 2020 in IOOF Cemetery in Norris City. Guidelines for social distancing will be in place and masks will be required. A live stream of the service will be available on the Campbell Funeral Home Facebook page.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mary’s memory to the Norris City United Cumberland Presbyterian Church and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City who is in charge of arrangements.
