Mary Ella Doerner

   Mary Ella Doerner, 86, of Norris City passed away on Friday, January 6, 2023 surrounded by her loving family.  She was born in Heralds Prairie Township, IL on September 1, 1936 the daughter of Lawrence Raymond and Lula Pearl (Sutton) Aud. Mary Ella married Kern L. Doerner. The Rev. Wayne Sutton, Mary Ella's uncle, officiated at their wedding on July 21, 1953 at Powell General Baptist Church in Norris City. She went on to graduate from Norris City High School in 1954 and attended Olney Central College for one year of Nursing School.  Mary Ella worked through the Clay/Wayne/Richland Regional Superintendent's Office overseeing the Visual and Hearing Screenings. She was a member of Powell General Baptist Church.

      Mary Ella is survived by her husband of 69 years, Kern; three children, Janette (Glenn) Syverson, Patsy Ann (Sam) Stephens and Kinchel Clay (Mina) Doerner; four grandchildren, Jessica (Ryan) Huseman, Rebecca Rae (Tyler) Schnarr, Austin Dean (Cassi) Stephens and Linnaea Jade Doerner;  four great-grandchildren, Lucy Bella Huseman, Benjamin Bailey Huseman, Micah Riley Huseman and Lyra Elise Stephens and numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, and three siblings, Laveda Pauline Bryant, Carolyn Sue Houseright and Lawrence Gayel Aud.

     Funeral services for Mary Ella Doerner, 86, of Norris City will be held at 12:00 p.m., Monday, January 9, 2023 at Plainview General Baptist Church, 792 County Road 325 North, Norris City, IL 62869  Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery.  Visitation will be held the same day,  Monday, January 9, 2023 from 10:00 a.m. until noon at Plainview General Baptist Church.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Mary Ella's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601 and will be accepted by or mailed to Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821 who is in charge of arrangements.
