Marrianne Ellis

December 2, 1935 — June 1, 2023

Enfield

Marrianne Ellis, 87, of Enfield, passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 1, 2023, at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi. She was born on December 2, 1935, the daughter of Orval and Lorraine (Wilbur) Edwards in Eldorado. Marrianne married Vereal E. Ellis on August 7, 1976.

She had been a beautician, an E.M.T., and received a Nursing degree from Frontier Community College. Additionally, she earned a Business degree from Southeastern Illinois College. Because she was so social and loved meeting new people, Marrianne was always gainfully employed up until she and her husband moved back from Arizona in 2014. She enjoyed talking about the different jobs she had throughout her lifetime starting when she was a young girl growing up in Eldorado. Marrianne was a member of the First Baptist Church in Shawneetown.

Marrianne’s hobbies included playing the piano, bingo, cards with her friends and going to the casino. Lady Luck was always on her side. Marrianne’s first love was her family, and spending time in Arizona. She also adored her cat, Miss Kitty.

She is survived by her daughter Dolly (Neale) Caffin; grandchildren, Lora (Corey) Phillips, and Logan (Kristina) Barker; great-grandchildren, Lillian, Lynnex, Bodey, and Brantley Phillips, and Lathyn Follmer; her siblings, Jack Fowler, Susan Rhine, and Kim (Mona) Edwards; and many other cousins to include Helen Golden who was like a sister. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Marrianne’s wishes were to be cremated and that a private celebration of life be held by members of her family. Memorial contributions can be made in Marrianne’s memory to Hospice of Southern Illinois and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
