Lowell Gene McArthy

Lowell Gene McArthy, age 88, of Norris City, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026 at Wabash Senior Living after a brief illness. He was born January 29, 1938 to Arnot and Pearl McArthy. He married Anna Sue (Bryant) June 17, 1962. She survives. Lowell graduated from NCO High School in 1956 and enjoyed times with his classmates throughout his life. He began working for Western Electric Company in 1956 and had a career with the phone company (The Consolidated Telephone Co, Contel and GTE) until he retired in 2000. He also served in the Army from 1958-1960. Lowell attended the United Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Norris City and was formerly with the Norris City Lion’s Club. His greatest joy over the years was spending time with his grandkids.

He is survived by his three sons: Bryan (Angie) McArthy of Mt Vernon, IN; Drex (Karrie) McArthy of Evansville, IN; and Curt (Amy) McArthy of Columbia, TN. In addition, he is survived by 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his siblings: Lyndell Brown, Evelyth Wright, Darrol McArthy, Keith McArthy and Royal Clifton McArthy.

Funeral Services for Lowell Gene McArthy, 88, of Norris City will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. Burial will follow at IOOF Cemetery in Norris City. Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 7, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. until time of service at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made in Lowell’s memory to the United Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Norris City and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City or mail to Campbell Funeral Home at 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
