Loretta Faye Vangampler, 86, of Carmi passed away on Saturday, February 28, 2026 surrounded by her family. She was born on January 9, 1940 in Eldorado, IL the daughter of Earl Carlos and Gladys Loretta (Bean) Pryor. Loretta was a graduate of Eldorado High School. She married Glen L. Vangampler on September 18, 1957 and he survives.
Loretta had worked at Gingerbread Daycare and at Historic New Harmony where she enjoyed meeting new people. She also loved to quilt, go camping and spend time with her family.
Loretta is survived by her husband, Glen; daughter, Glenna (Ed) Potter: son, Richard Vangampler; grandchildren, Victoria Potter, John (Amanda) Garion, Katherine (Levi) Bushue, Joseph Vangampler and Sam Potter; two great-grandchildren, Rayna Bernice and Ember Faye Garion; a sister, Martha (Denzil) Towle; and two sister-in-law, Rose Kelly and June Vangampler. She was preceded in death by her son, Glen Arthur "Artie" Vangampler and four siblings, Earlene (Dan) January, Evelyn (Neal) Lewis, Shannon Pryor and Sue Pryor Peterson.
A Celebration of Life for Loretta Faye Vangampler, 86, of Carmi will be held at 10:30, on Tuesday, March 3, 2026 at the First Christian Church in Carmi. A visitation will be held on Monday, March 2, 2026 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Loretta's memory to St Jude's Children's Hospital and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
