Lois G. Koontz Wood

   Lois G. Koontz Wood, 86, of Carmi, passed away at her residence on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, surrounded by family. Born October 7, 1939, in Princeton, IN, she was the daughter of Royal and Mary Josephine (Walker) Martin. Lois married Kenneth L. Koontz on August 1, 1958, and they shared more than 45 years of marriage before his passing on April 7, 2004. She later married Ted Wood in November 2023, and they shared over two years of marriage. Lois was an active member of First Baptist Church in Carmi and taught the Blanche Williams Women’s Sunday School Class for over 20 years. She enjoyed cooking, baking, caring for her home, and hosting family gatherings.

   Lois is survived by her husband, Ted Wood of Carmi; children, Lisa (Mike) Hetzel of Carmi, Martin (Lisa) Koontz of Indianapolis, IN, Mark (Katrena) Koontz of Carmi, and David Wood of Carmi; grandchildren, Kyle Koontz, Matthew (Andrea) Hetzel, Alex (Jasmine) Hetzel, and Keely (Austin) Brown; great-grandchildren, Abby Koontz, Kaden Hetzel, Raegan Hetzel, Abel Hetzel, Kooper Brown, Karter Brown, and Avery Brown. She was preceded in death by her parents, Royal and Mary Martin; husband, Kenneth L. Koontz; sister, Bonnie Gay.

   Funeral Services for Lois G. Koontz Wood, 86, of Carmi will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will follow in Big Prairie Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, September 11, 2026 from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Lois’s memory to Charles Ford Hospice In Harmony and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
