Lloyd Stills

     Lloyd Vern Stills, 95, of Carmi, IL, passed away on Saturday, November 18, 2023, at Ascension St. Vincent in Evansville, IN. He was born on January 28, 1928, in Crossville, IL, the son of Samuel and Ethel (Hutchcraft) Stills. On November 10, 1953, he married Ellyn Dawn Rudolph and together they shared over 57 years of marriage before her passing on February 11, 2011. Lloyd honorably served his country in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War. He began his working years in the Oil industry for Baker Oil, in the early 1970’s he returned to Carmi where he purchased Graham’s Menswear and operated it until the early 1990’s when he began Lloyd Stills Realty where he brokered real estate and provided appraisal services until his retirement. He attended and supported the ministries of Emmanuel Methodist Church in Carmi and was a member of the Carmi Kiwanis Club. Lloyd was on the Board of Directors for the Carmi Library and actively involved in the construction of the new building.  In his younger years Lloyd enjoyed golfing and bowling. He loved reading and visiting his friends at the Coffee Shop Restaurant.     

 

   Lloyd is survived by his many nieces and nephews whom he loved as his own children. Along with his parents and wife Ellyn, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Jesse Stills, Thresal Lichtenberger, Reva Satterwhite and Bobby Gene Stills.

 

    Funeral Services for Lloyd Vern Stills will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 27, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi, IL. Burial will follow immediately at Centerville Cemetery in Carmi, IL, with full military rites provided by the United States Marine Corps, Carmi VFW, and Carmi American Legion. Family and Friends may visit on Sunday, November 26, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmi Library and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home who is in charge of the arrangements.
