John was born August 27, 1925 to the late John & Nora Caldwell in Henderson, Kentucky. John was a farmer having worked for several different farmers in Kentucky, Indiana and Illinois. He enjoyed fishing and camping and was a United States Marine Corp. veteran, and a member of Pilgrim Holiness Church in Evansville.

He is survived by:
One son: Roger Shahan of New Harmony

Two daughters: Patricia Little and husband, Glen of Mt. Vernon, IN
Barbara Fonner and husband, Bennie of Evansville, IN

Four brothers: James Caldwell of Diamond, KY
Bill Baty of Dixon, KY
Bobby Baty of Ohio
Charles Qurtermous of Diamond, KY
Sister: Charlene Alex of Vermont

Six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren

Funeral Services will be 2:30 pm, Friday, November 30, 2007 at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 E. 4th Mt. Vernon, Indiana with Reverend Robert Loper officiating. Burial will be in Weiss Cemetery. The American Legion Owen Dunn Post #5 will conduct military rites at the gravesite.

Friends may call 11:30 am until 2:30 pm, Friday, November 30, 2007, at the funeral home.
