Joan was born September 2, 1936 to the late Damian “Nick” and Emma Louise Ofer in Mt. Vernon, Indiana. She was a 1954 graduate of Mt. Vernon High School, a member of St. Matthews Catholic Church, a member of the Eagles Auxiliary 1717, Past President of the Mt. Vernon Refinery Ladies Club and enjoyed playing Clabber every Friday night with friends. Joan retired in 1997 after 30 years from General Electric where she worked as a secretary.

She is survived by:
Her husband Roy Martin of 53 years

Three Daughters:
Vicki Straw and her husband, Scott of New Harmony, IN
Martina Sutton and her husband, Ronnie of Mt. Vernon, IN
Christy Hart and her husband, Dean of Glen Ellyn, IL
Seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild

Several nieces and nephews

She was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Ofer in 1957 and a granddaughter, Jeana Sue Sutton in 1980.

Funeral Services will be 10 am, Thursday, June 28, 2007 at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 E. 4th Street, Mt. Vernon, with Father Jack Durchholz officiating. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery.

Friends may call 4 pm until 8 pm, Wednesday, June 27, 2007 and from 9 am until service time, Thursday, June 28, 2007 at the funeral home.
