James Thorpe
April 27, 1940 — December 28, 2017
James C. Thorpe, 77, of Broughton, passed away at his daughter’s home on December 28, 2017. He was born on April 27, 1940 in West Virginia, the son of Forest G. and Josephine (Slaughter) Thorpe. He married Betty Lou Wilburn and she preceded him in death on May 1, 2015.
Mr. Thorpe was a Machinist at Sealmaster Bearing. He was a United States Marine Corp Veteran and belonged to the American Legion, VFW and Amvets.
He is survived by sons, Charles D. Norris and Darren A. Norris, daughter, Adrian Rose Norris; seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday January 6, 2018 at Ashland Christian Church near Mill Shoals with Braden Willis officiating. Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Enfield is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
