James Poshard

James R. Poshard, 80, of Mt. Vernon, IN died at 6:00 AM, Monday, August 23, 2004 at his home in Mt. Vernon. J.R was born October 15, 1923 in Broughton, IL son of George and Iva (Tippit) Poshard. He was a WW II US Army Veteran and a member of the American Legion Post 1141 in New Haven, IL and a Life member of VFW Post 3851 in Carmi, IL. He was also a member of the Beulah Masonic Lodge #578 in Mt. Vernon, Scottish Rite and Hadi Shrine in Evansville. He had worked for Farm Bureau Oil Company in production and then founded P & R Oil Producers. In 1969 he was a co-founder of Poshard & Allen Trucking incorporating in 1975 as Poshard & Son Trucking with his son.
J.R is survived by his son and Daughter In Law, James S. and Cathy Poshard of Mt. Vernon, IN; granddaughter, Holly Poshard of Evansville, IN, his former wife, Kathryn Poshard of Mt. Vernon, two half sisters, Bonnie Schrieber and Shirley Baker of Eldorado, IL and many nephews, nieces and friends.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, August 25, 2004 at Austin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Dallas Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Union Ridge Cemetery in New Haven, IL with military rites. Friends may call from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home where a Masonic Service will be held at 7:00 PM. Visitation will also be held from 9:00 AM until the service time on Wednesday. Memorial contributions can be made to the Shriner’s Children’s Hospital.
