Hubert Johnson

Hubert Johnson, 70, of Mt. Vernon, IN, died, Friday, June 30, 2006 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. He was born April 9, 1936 in Waterloo, Alabama son of Hubert and Louise (Austin) Johnson. He was a member of Bethel AME Church and of the Tradesman Club. Hubert retired from GE Plastics in 1998 as a supervisor in Brine Recovery. Hubert was an avid golfer and loved to cook.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rose B. (Joyce) Johnson of Mt. Vernon; son, Steven Johnson of Evansville; daughter, Ushanda Johnson of Mt. Vernon; brothers, Johnny Johnson of Evansville and Davis “Slick” Johnson of Mt. Vernon; sisters, Willie Mae Williams and Ailene Waller both of Evansville; 5 grandchildren, Bre-Ausha Rasha Johnson, Jovon Lee Johnson, Isaac Andrew Johnson, Qacheyta Austin Raye McClellan and Asa James Johnson; several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Thursday, July 6, 2006 at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 East Fourth Street, Mt. Vernon, IN with burial in the Bellefontaine Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Wednesday, July 5, and from 9:00 am until service time on Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to the American Kidney Foundation.
