Helen Mae Sexton, 85, of Carmi, passed away on Saturday, July 31, 2021. She was born on June 1, 1936, the daughter of Earl and Irene (Ninness) Pollard. She married Gerald Junior Sexton on March 27, 1954, and he precedes her in death. Helen was a devoted wife and mother. Shortly after their marriage Gerald began his career serving in the United States Airforce. From that time until his retirement in 1973, Helen moved with him and supported him in every duty assignment. Helen enjoyed fishing, working puzzles, square dancing and most of all, reading her Bible and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Helen is survived by her children, Cindy (Doug) Smith, Pam Attebury, Chris (Sueanne) Sexton, and Anthony Sexton; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; siblings, Roy Pollard, Betty (Tom) Hosick, and Mabel Todd; her companion, Morris McCall; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Sexton; her parents; siblings, Bill Pollard, Kenny Pollard, George Pollard, Violet Ashby, Viola Carty, Robert Pollard, Clarence Pollard, and Maxine Harvey; and a son-in-law, Joe Allen Attebury.
Funeral services for Helen Sexton will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, 2021, at Stendeback Funeral Home in Carmi with burial at White County Memorial Gardens. Family and Friends may visit from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, August 5, 2021, at Stendeback Funeral Home. Stendeback Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
