Helen Carroll

Helen M. Carroll, 90, of Mt. Vernon, died at 12:25 PM, Saturday, July 3, 2004 at the San Ramon Regional Medical Center in San Ramon, California.
Helen was born May 29, 1914 in Loogootee, IN daughter of Frank and Cora (Wagoner) Kays. Helen was a very active member of St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Mount Vernon. She was a loving mother, wife and grandmother whose passion was doing things for her family. She was an excellent seamstress and especially enjoyed making her children’s clothing throughout their school years.
Helen is survived by her daughter and son in law, Sue and Carl Swenson of Danville, CA and her son and daughter in law, Jim and Ann Carroll of Mt. Vernon. Grandchildren, Jeff Swenson and wife Michelle, Dean Swenson and wife Stephanie and Matt Swenson all of Danville, CA and Jamie Swan and husband Dave of Kansas City, MO., Great-grandchildren, Zachary, Taylor and Kendall; 2 sisters also survive, Ruth Robertson and Jane Prather and her husband Bob of Washington, IN and sisters-in-laws, Betty Wilz of Washington, IN and Marcella Pruitt and husband Ray of Washington, IN.
Funeral services will be held at 9:30 AM Saturday July 10, at Austin Funeral Home, 1330 East Fourth St. Mt. Vernon, IN, continuing at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew’s Catholic Church in Mt. Vernon. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 9, 2004 at Austin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon. In lieu of flowers the family has requested memorial contributions be made to St. Matthews Catholic
