Gene Brown

Gene Brown, 64, of Carmi, passed away at 4:48 p.m., Monday, April 23, 2018 at his residence. He was born in Carmi, IL on August 15, 1953 the son of  Charles A. and Norma (Slankard) Brown.  Gene married Suzanne Bullard on December 14, 1974. He was a 1971 graduate of Carmi Township High School. Gene was a farmer and owned various rental properties that he over saw and maintained. He was a member of the Emmanuel United Methodist Church. Gene enjoyed fishing, hunting and spending time with his grandchildren.

Gene is survived by his wife of 43 years, Suzanne Brown, of Carmi; two sons, Billy Brown, of Carmi and Jason (Jennifer) Brown, of Lexington, KY; daughter, Sarah Brown, of Newburgh, IN; brother, Stephen Brown, of Lawrenceville, IL; two sisters, Carol Spisak, of Duson, LA and Melba Hilton, of Boone County, KY; five grandchildren, Alyssa, Wyatt, Andrew, Nathan and Henry.

Funeral services for Gene Brown, 64, of Carmi will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, April 26, 2018 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will be in Centerville Cemetery in Carmi. Visitation will be on Thursday, April 26, 2018  from 8:30 a.m. until service time at 11:00 a.m at Campbell Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Gene's memory to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
