Ezra Ellsworth Millspaugh

Norris City

      Ezra Ellsworth Millspaugh, 95, of Norris City, entered the Kingdom of Heaven on Saturday, June 10, 2023, at Deaconess Gateway Hospital in Newburgh, Indiana. He was born on October 24, 1927, in Norris City, Illinois, the son of William Layton and Bessie Ellen (Bruce) Millspaugh. Ezra graduated from Norris City High School in 1946. He married Marjorie Allen Vines on June 15, 1968, and she survives. Ezra worked various jobs throughtout his lifetime. He worked in the oil field and was also the Assistant Manager at Southern Illinois Lumber Yard. Ezra was a bus driver for N.C.O.E. school district for 21 years and also was the custodian at N.C.O.E. High School for eight years. He started the first Norris City Khoury League baseball teams in 1961. Ezra was a member as well as deacon, secretary, trustee, and song leader at The Carmi Church of Christ. He was a member of the Norris City Chamber of Commerce. Ezra was the committee organizer for Dairy Days for 25 years and was also the parade marshall during the Dairy Days parade. He was a Lions Club Foundation Trustee, and was also a past District Governer for the Lions Club and received the "Melvin Jones Award."

     In additon to his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Millspaugh, Ezra is survived by his children, Allan Lynn (Margaret) Vines of McLeansboro, IL, Marcia  (Mark) Hiller of Harrisburg, IL, Annette (Rod) Brashier of Macedonia, IL. and  Larry Keith (Kathy) Millspaugh of Newton, IL, ; beloved grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and one special name sake, Jaden Ezra Stanley. He is preceded in death by his parents, Layton and Bessie Millspaugh; siblings, Shelby, Elza and Gladys; a son, Duane Millspaugh; and two grandchildren, Melissa Vines and David Vines.

     Funeral services for Ezra Millspaugh will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City with burial at Ebenezer Cemetery in Norris City. Family and friends may visit from 12:00 p.m. until time of service on Monday, June 19, 2023, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Ezra's memory to the Lions Telethon of Stars or to the Lions and Leader Dog Program and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City, who is in charge of arrangements.
