Dorothy Mae Wheeler

   Dorothy Mae Wheeler, 88, of Norris City, passed away on August 16, 2026, at Linda E. White Hospice House.

   Dorothy was born on January 5, 1938, in White County, Illinois, the daughter of Willis Britt Cusic and Alma Fancis (Healy) Cusic.

   On December 9, 1957, Dorothy married the love of her life, Bertis Wheeler. They shared 22 years together before his passing in 1979. During their years together, they were blessed with two wonderful children, Vonda Faye (Wheeler) Vineyard and David Bertis Wheeler.

   Dorothy enjoyed the simple things in life and was never afraid of a little hard work. Back in the day, she loved to dance, and she always enjoyed going out to eat. She was known by her family as the best cook around. Dorothy also loved to mow and spent many years mowing not only her own yard, but yards for others as well. Above all, Dorothy loved her family and the time she was able to spend with those closest to her.

   Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Vonda (Wheeler) Vineyard and husband, Deano Vineyard, of Norris City; her son, David Wheeler and wife, Becky Wheeler, of Enfield; her grandchildren, Sarah Vineyard of Hawaii, Dakota Wheeler and wife, Samantha, of Enfield, and Alixandria Wheeler of Enfield; and her great-granddaughter, Alma Wheeler of Enfield.

   She is also survived by her beloved granddogs, Rocky and Rhiannon Wheeler, who held a special place in her family.

   Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Willis and Alma Cusic; her husband, Bertis Wheeler; her sister, Joanne Gibson; and her beloved granddog, Bandit Vineyard.

   Visitation will be held Friday, August 21, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.

   Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 22, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City.

   Dorothy will be laid to rest at Old Sharon Cemetery in Enfield, beside those who went before her.
