Donnie G. Newman, Sr., 69 of Carmi, passed away Tuesday morning October 11, 2016 at his home. He was born September 10, 1947 in Carmi, the son of Frank Clifton and Rada Isabelle (Nelson) Newman. He married Peggy S. Moss.
Donnie had worked in the oilfield for many White County Oil Companies.
He is survived by his wife, Peggy; sons, Jeffrey M., Donnie G., Jr and Jodon Lee Newman; daughter Amy Michelle Moss; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild; brothers, Frank William, Charles Alvin, Carroll Clifton, Tommy Lynn, Ronnie Ray, Phillip Arthur; sisters, Mary Jane Donahue, Gertrude Hart, Connie Ann Churchwell, Barbara Kay Fletcher and Terry Buchanan. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Scott, David Bobby Dean and Roger Lee Newman and sister, Charlotte Rose Stephens.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. on Thursday October 13, 2016 at the Stendeback Family Funeral Home in Carmi with Rev. Jerry Browning officiating. Burial will be in Kitty Sweetin Cemetery near Springerton. Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. until time of services. Online condolences may be left at stendebackfamilyfuneralhome.com
