David Brockett

     David R. Brockett, a resident of Norris City, was born April 30, 1964, in Evansville, Indiana, to H. Reece and J. Marie (Walker) Brockett. He chose to end his earthly journey on December 1, 2025, following a long and courageous battle with depression and anxiety. He was sustained at Deaconess Midtown Hospital in Evansville until Thursday, December 4, 2025, when he passed away. His family is grateful that he was able to be an organ donor and, in death, give the gift of life to others.

     He is survived by his sister, Brenda Covert of Greer, South Carolina; a niece, nephew, and two grandnieces whom he dearly loved; an uncle and aunt; and many beloved cousins.

     David’s passing leaves a deep and lasting sorrow for those who loved him. Suicide is a painful and complicated end, and his family continues to wrestle with grief, unanswered questions, and the realities of mental illness. Even so, they cling to the hope and comfort of their faith, trusting in God’s mercy and the promise that this life is not the end. Though life will never be the same, David will be remembered with love and gratitude for the time shared with him.

     David will be laid to rest with his parents at Palestine #2 Cemetery in Omaha, IL. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is assisting the family with arrangements.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in David’s memory to a the Southeastern Illinois Suicide Prevention Task Force or to Campbell Funeral Home to assist the family with expenses. Donations may be mailed to Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St, Carmi, IL 62821
