Danny Phillips

 Danny Ray Phillips, 69, of Norris City, passed away on Sunday, August 6, 2023. He was born on August 16, 1953, in Evansville, Indiana, Dan was the only child of Everett (Bun) & Beulah (McGhee) Phillips. After graduating high school. Danny received a bachelor's degree from the University of Southern Indiana then traveled to Oklahoma where he attended Pharmacy School. After graduating there, he returned to Southern Illinois where he began his 40 year career of being a licensed pharmacist.   Dan served as a Deacon at Powell General Baptist Church & was a member of Masonic Lodge #718. He enjoyed his family & friends, traveling, & especially loved his animals..

     He married Jan (Roark) Drone on March 7, 2021 who survives along with step children Randi Vickery & daughter Jenna Vickery, Jayla (Nick) Sisk & children Cade Hopson & Mia Sisk, and Blake (Sarah) Drone & children Liam & Emma Drone  and mother-in-law Betty Jo Roark;  Also surviving is Bill Baysinger who Dan considered the son he never had, & special friends Roger and Susie Dale. 

      He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents and several Uncles, Aunts & cousins.
    
     A service to celebrate the life of Danny Phillips will be held on Saturday, August 19, 2023, at Powell General Baptist Church in Norris City, begin at 1:00 p.m. with Masonic Rites.  Per Dan's request, he was cremated and will be buried next to his parents in Powell Cemetery immediately following the service. Family and friends may visit from noon until service time at 1:00 p.m. at Powell General Baptist Church in Norris City. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the American Heart Association and can be mailed to Campbell Funeral Home, 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.  Campbell Funeral Home  in Norris City, is assisting the family with arrangements.
