Curtis Turner, 76, of Mt.Vernon died at 6:20 PM, Sunday, January 16, 2005 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. Curtis was born May 12, 1928 in Mt. Vernon son of LeRoy and Pearl (Jenkins) Turner. He was a retired truck driver with Teamsters Local 215 in Evansville, IN. He was a WWII US Army Veteran and a member of the VFW. He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother, Frank, grandson, Cory and son in law Geary Butler and brother in law, Bill Whitfield.
He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Lee (Stevens) Turner of Mt. Vernon; sons, Larry D. Smith and his wife Greta of Mt. Vernon and Curtis Wayne Turner and his wife Christina of Evansville and David Coulter of Indianapolis and Frank Coulter of Chicago, IL; daughters, Jeanne Anderson and her husband David of Mt. Vernon and Susan Butler of Evansville; one brother, Harold “Jabo” Turner of Mt. Vernon and three sisters, Gladys Whitfield of Rosemont, California, Nellie Cox of New Harmony and Penny Hamblin of Mt. Vernon and a sister in law, Barbara Turner of Desterhan, LA; grandchildren, Sabrina Lynn Smith, Cassy, Tessa and Sami Anderson, Michael, Ryan and Christopher Turner, Samantha, Andrea and Cassandra Killion, Rob Cates and Brad Butler; great-grandchildren, Christian and Drake Turner, Morgyn Floyd, Serinty and Cory Cates..
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday January 19, 2005 at Austin Funeral Home 1330 East Fourth St. in Mt. Vernon, IN with Rev. Leon Clark and Rev. Ted Totch officiating. Burial will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon with military rites. Friends may call from 4 PM until 8 PM on Tuesday, January 18, 2005 and from 11:00 am until the service time on Wednesday at the funeral home.
