Charles Clay Williams, 58, of Mt. Vernon died 10:30 PM Saturday, October 2, 2004 at Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, IN. Charles was born February 16, 1946 in Pyote, Texas, son of Thomas A. and Jane (Beard) Williams. He trained at the FBI academy as a fingerprint analyst. Charlie retired after 30 years with GE Plastics. He was an Electrician and Analyzer Technician. Charlie was a member of the Sons of the American Legion and had been a member of the Moose and Eagles in Mt. Vernon. He was preceded in death by his father in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Rita (Felty) Williams of Mt. Vernon; a daughter, Leigh Ann Baro of Mt. Vernon, IN; his mother, Jane Williams of Elizabethtown, IL; 3 brothers, Tom Williams of Elizabethtown, IL, Richard B. Williams of Golconda, IL and Hal Williams of Rosiclare, IL; 1 sister, Ann Johnson of Marion, IL; and 2 grandchildren, Toni Leigh Waddell and Karl Nicholas Baro.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM, Wednesday, September 6, 2004 at Austin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Dallas Robinson officiating. Burial will be in the Bellefontaine Cemetery in Mt. Vernon. Friends may call from 11:00 AM until service time on Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made to The American Legion Scholarship Fund or Point Township Nazarene Church Building Fund.
