Charles Edward Hale

   Charles E. "Charlie" Hale, 81, of Carmi passed away on Monday, September 7, 2026 at Murray Calloway County Hospital in Murray, KY. He was born in Tuttle, KY on October 16, 1944 the son of Claude and Otie (Hopper) Hale. Charlie married Cathy Eaglin in July 1968. He retired from White County Coal where he had been a hoistman, Charlie was an avid golfer and member of the Carmi Country Club and loved attending his grandchildren's sporting events.

   Charlie is survived by his wife of 58 years, Cathy; daughter and son-in-law, Gina (Eric) Hale Johnson of Hendersonville, TN; five grandchildren, Charli Jo Doss, Teri Elizabeth LaBella, Sydney Johnson, Briley Johnson and Reagan Johnson; and a sister, Rebecca Williams of London, KY; son-in-law, Greg Doss of Paducah, KY; and a faithful grand dog, Maggie. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Lori Hale Doss, and a sister, Pansy Williams.

   A service to Celebrate the Life of Charles E. "Charlie" Hale will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi with full military honors to follow. A visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2026 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Charles’s memory to CWCHS Golf Team or St. Jude and will be accepted at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi or by mail to 609 W. Main St., Carmi, IL 62821.
