Carolyn Cox

Carolyn S. Cox, 67 of Mt. Vernon, IN died at her home Sunday morning, September 14, 2008. She was born December 11, 1940 in Mt. Vernon, the daughter of Wesley G. and Ellen Nelson.


She liked crafts, but she focused mainly on her children, they were her life. Carolyn was a homemaker, and had also worked for sometime at Medco in Mt. Vernon and at Sherry’s Place.


She is survived by four daughters, Sheryl (Michael) Long of Mt. Vernon, Anne (Andy) Albrecht of Indianapolis, Laurie Walters of Mt. Vernon, and Carla Mobley of Poseyville; a son, David (Diane) Cox of Mt. Vernon, two sisters, Sharon Nelson and Martha (Wilfred) Nobles both of Mt. Vernon; two brothers, Larry (Jackie) Nelson of IL and Rodger Nelson of St. Phillips, IN.


She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Allen David Cox; one son, Leonard Trafford, one sister and four brothers.


Funeral services will be held at 10 am Wednesday, September 17, 2008 at Austin Funeral Home in Mt. Vernon with Reverend Mark Tabor officiating. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 pm on Tuesday, September 16, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Bellefontaine Cemetery at Mt. Vernon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
