Bonnie F. Atkinson

   Bonnie F. Atkinson, 88, of Carmi, passed away on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Wabash Senior Living and Rehab. Born on March 26, 1938, in Webb, Mississippi, she was the daughter of Radford and Ruby (Blalock) Sullivan. Bonnie married Joseph Atkinson on December 19, 1954, and they shared more than 57 years of marriage before his passing on September 13, 2012. She cherished time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and was an avid reader. As a pastor’s wife for many years, she supported her husband’s ministry and community outreach. She also worked as a housekeeper at Carmi Hospital for 30 years.

   Bonnie is survived by her children, Dan (Miranda) Atkinson of McLeansboro, Vicki (Bill) Hampton of Enfield, Brenda (Alan) Benham of Carmi; grandchildren, Danny Ray (Stacey) Atkinson, Chris (Charlotte) Nipper, Douglas (Amanda) Atkinson, Samantha Benham, Derrick (Crystal) Atkinson, Melissa (Jarrod) McKenzie; great-grandchildren, Madison, Sydney, Shane, Kenzie, Michala, Wyatt, Katy, Evan, Hayden, Merrick, Paisley, Brynna, Scarlett, Vada; five great-great-grandchildren and one on the way. She was preceded in death by her parents, Radford and Ruby Sullivan; husband, Joseph Atkinson; siblings, Paul (Rosemary) Sullivan, Joy (Aaron) Atkinson, and Mary Jane Morgan.

   Funeral Services for Bonnie F. Atkinson, 88, of Carmi will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi. Burial will follow in Enfield Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026 at Campbell Funeral Home in Carmi.
