Billy Sampson

     Billy Dale Sampson, 65. of McLeansboro, Illinois, passed away on Monday, January 8. 2024, at Hamilton Memorial Hospital in McLeansboro. He was born on February 20, 1958, in Evansville, Indiana, the son of Leamuel Thomas and Elsie Mae (Pemberton) Sampson. Billy worked in construction, as well as the oil field and also worked with various carnivals and could work on or fix anything that came his way. The joy of his life was riding his Harley Davidson that he owned for over 20 years. 

     Billy is survived by his mother, Elsie Sampson of Norris City, IL; two daughters, Maranda Dodgson of Carmi, IL and Ashley Elkins of Radford, VA; three grandchildren; two sisters,  Debbie Dunn of Evansville, IN and Karen Laurie of Evansville, IN. He is preceded in death by his father, Leamuel Sampson; and three siblings, Tony Sampson, David Sampson, and Peggy Sampson.

     Funeral services for Billy Sampson will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. A private burial will be held at Locust Hill Cemetery in Evansville, Indiana. Family and friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service on Saturday, January 13, 2024, at Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Campbell Funeral Home to assist the family with funeral expenses. Campbell Funeral Home in Norris City is in charge of arrangements.
