      Betty Ruth Martin, 99, of Hollywood, Florida, and formerly of Enfield, Illinois, passed away on Monday, August 14, 2023, at Camelot Court Assisted Living in Hollywood, Florida. She was born on November 5, 1923, in Enfield, Illinois, the daughter of John and Katie (Todd) Russell. She married Lowell Max Martin on November 5, 1941, and he preceded her in death on February 23, 1976. Betty was a life-long  member of the Enfield Baptist Church. She loved to sew and was quite the seamstress. She made most of the clothing for her children. She also made cheerleading and majorette outfits for her daughter and others on the squad.  She loved to quilt and make wall hangings with her last quilt pieced then quilted by hand when she was 84, and her last pieced quilt when she was 94. Most of all, Betty enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.

     Betty is survived by her children, Stephen (Rita) Martin of Hollywood, FL, Anita (Jerry) Finch of Ardenvoir, WA, and Stan (Julie) Martin of Duncan, OK; grandchildren, Scott (Areum Jung) Finch, Adam (Melanie) Finch, Sarah (Tyler) Yarborough, Isaac (Brianna) Martin, and Caleb (Lisa) Martin; great-grandchildren, Hayes Yarborough, Rocky Martin, Havana Martin, Noah Martin, Mila Martin, Bennet Martin and Samuel Finch; a sister, Etta Lumb of Enfield, IL; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Lowell Martin, Betty is preceded in death by her parents; a grandchild, Gabriel Martin; and siblings, Ellen Newman, Christina Newman, Ruby Barger, Lester Barton, Dorothy Jumper, Mildred Gwaltney and Mary Fern Russell

     The burial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 18, 2023, at Enfield Cemetery preceding the memorial service at 11:00 a.m. at Enfield General Baptist Church with dinner following. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in Betty's memory to Vitas Hospice and will be accepted in person or by mail at Stendeback Funeral Home,  609 West Main Street, Carmi, Illinois 62821, who is in charge of arrangements.
